DEATHRIDE Kick Off Showcase Gigs
November 16, 2002California's DEATHRIDE, the new project featuring COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara, have kicked off a series of showcase gigs with a view towards signing a record deal and issuing a debut CD in early 2003.
"Yesterday afternoon: November, 13th DEATHRIDE showcased at The Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, California," Fafara wrote on the band's official web site. "The whole band loaded up a U-Haul and then all of us caravanned down to L.A. the night before. We stayed in a very cool hotel and many people stopped bye that night including [COAL CHAMBER producer] Ross Hogarth, my friend and cohort in musical crime. The whole band was up at 7 a.m. We had to load in at The Whisky at 10 o' clock in the morning. After soundchecking and getting our sound about 12 o' clock in the afternoon, 7 or 8 individuals whom we were playing for arrived. I must say this, hearing DEATHRIDE on The Whisky's sound system was incredible and we thank all parties who came together to set this showcase up. After playing 9 songs it was evident throughout the room that all of our hard work and diligence was about to pay off. This is the first showcase in a two-week period where there will be several more.
"Highlight of the day: Shak picking up his standup bass and holding it like a guitar.
"Yesterday, I realized the options are endless and many doors have just begun to swing open and let me tell you I am prepared to charge through them. The time is near and decisions that will affect the rest of my life will be made within this two-week period. Ill keep you all posted regarding what is happening with DEATHRIDE.
Wed like to thank Wayne Static of STATIC-X, he recieved our demo last week and liked it. Wed like to thank him for his endeavors in helping DEATHRIDE. At this time I'd also like to thank numerous artists, managers and record companies for calling me on a daily basis and asking what they can do, how they can help to propagate DEATHRIDE."
